The Word of God teaches us in Rom 12:1 –Rom 12:2 NKJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
As a believer we must, must, must. renew our mind. The bible also teaches that our flesh or (sinful nature) wars against our born again spirit. Some believers really love God and want to serve him, but they are not being transformed. Their mind has not been and is not being renewed, therefore their flesh is speaking out in it’s own defense. Where is the living sacrifice? Is not Christ worth it? The things in this world that we place so, so much value on, are all going to pass away and all that will remain is your soul. We all struggle with the old human nature that wants to satisfy it’s desires. Let us give a little mercy and grace to each other. I don’t plan on watching Twilight, and even though I wouldn’t feel good about watching it, I’m not going to condemn someone else. I would say however, one must be careful about what they allow into their spirit. Yes, we all have spirit. God is Spirit and those how worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth. We have a enough trouble controlling our old Adamic nature with out adding fuel to the fire. Some said - “ask if Jesus would watch it”. When a believer watches it then Jesus is there with them. So He saw it with them. Does he approve? My opinion is that He is more concerned with our relationship with Him. Are we spending as much time with Him in word, prayer and worship as we are entertaining ourselves? I wonder does He miss our company. I know when I spend a lot of time in secular entertainment I find myself missing Him. No, no one will go to Hell for watching Twilight. However we must remember to give God equal time. Then maybe our values will no longer be conformed to the world but be transformed to be more like Jesus. God Bless!
